Back in 1997, this according to the Gatestone Institute, the Prime Minister to be had this to say of the Jews: ” . . . ”The Jews have begun to crush the Muslims of Palestine, in the name of Zionism,” the mayor said, “Today, the image of the Jews is no different from that of the Nazis.” [8]
Consider what I had to say in the previous post, and then catch this ignoble and altogether recent rant from Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, may he for the Turkish people’s sake become E’r Be Gone at the next election:
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Tuesday branded Israel’s air raids in Syria “unacceptable” but again called on the international community to act over killings by regime forces.
“No excuse can justify this operation,” Erdogan told ruling party lawmakers after Israel’s weekend strikes on military sites in the war-torn country sent regional tensions soaring. [1]
Given the estimate of 70,000 dead so far in the slaughterhouse of Syria’s civil war; given reports of the torture of children in that battle space; given the consistent assessment’s of Maher al-Assad’s mentality; given the genocidal and maniacal rants emanating from Ayatollah Khamenei’s regime in Iran and out of the mouths of its stooges, Hamas and Hezbollah; given the detection of rocket shipments intended for Israeli targets: is there any other way to interpret the above as other than the familiar backward and cowardly voice of Jew hate?
It seems Erdogan wishes to enjoy NATO status while, frankly, attacking NATO values, a logical enough extension of his destruction of remnant Kamalist Turkish state behavior and values.
Having perhaps little to offer his people himself, it would seem Erdogan has learned to “pander and slander” in the Muslim way (I’m sorry to say that, but the hatred of the Jews, Israel, the west, the dhimmi, and the kafir, seem to me rife and encouraged throughout Islam, and this not solely the province of a low percentage of Osama fans but in fact the possession of heads of state, Erdogan now striving, perhaps, to make himself foremost among them. That said, one recognizes too a latent and massive westward exceptionalism present and continuing to develop within the Ummah, and that constituency may need the transforming energies of the strongest partnerships with others to prevail against what Erdogan has now made himself represent).
In any case, while playing up the “enemy of my enemy” with United States and NATO and Saudi Arabia and inherent Sunni Islamic interests, Erdogan has chosen to demonize Israel, embarrass himself (though he doesn’t yet know it), and virtually damn his country’s tourist industry for probably as long as he remains in the lesser statesman’s business.
A Note on Israel’s Defense Posture
- +50,000 missiles stocked by Hezbollah. [2]
- +50,000 combined Iran and Hezbollah military force operating in Syria. [3]
- An archaic and militant anti-Semite in the figure of Hassan Nasrallah, who would seem to be defending 7th Century Shiite Islam at the expense of modern Lebanese and with a focus on the destruction of Israel and, let’s go the distance on what’s implied, of Jewish life as well. [4 – a recent analysis]
- An equally archaic and militant anti-Semitic movement — i.e., Hamas — at its southern gate, an enemy, self-defined, by values incompatible to all other contemporary apprehension and conscience [5 – a fair example] – and an intransigent leader (in Khaled Mashaal) to match. [6]
Recently, Erdogan’s Turkey chose to block a NATO meeting in which Israel would also participate. [7]
Back in 1997, this according to the Gatestone Institute, the Prime Minister to be had this to say of the Jews: ” . . . “The Jews have begun to crush the Muslims of Palestine, in the name of Zionism,” the mayor said, “Today, the image of the Jews is no different from that of the Nazis.” [8]
This comes from United with Israel, one of the world’s flurry of countervailing pro-Zionist organizations [9]:
“I would like to see accurate statistics of how many Israelis have been killed by the bombs thrown by Palestinians or with the rockets that were launched by them?…. we know that hundreds of thousands of Palestinians were killed… neither Turkey nor the Muslims in the region have exerted such cruelty on Israel… Israel is inexplicably cruel, against innocent Palestinians, hiding behind the Nazi Holocaust and seeking victimhood….Everybody knows what Israel is about.”
Any contemporary reader with a modicum of decency and humanity brightening his heart well recognizes the form of the lying (and exaggeration plus the convenient absence of cause) and slander motivated deeply by hate of this kind.
Journalist Rachel Avraham notes of the above quoted passage that it was ranked by the Simon Wiesenthal Center as being “the second worst anti-Israel slur uttered in 2011″ and topped only by the incitements of Mahmoud Abbas.
