The ongoing tragedy of the Middle East Conflict is frequently framed through familiar, well-worn lenses: ideological and religious antagonism, land disputes, or competing nationalisms. Yet beneath the surface of Western media coverage lies a cold, structural reality that academics, policy professionals, and human rights advocates routinely overlook: the Middle East Conflict has been and remains a frozen conflict, i.e., at its core, an engineered Russian “forever war.”

For over six decades, Soviet and Post-Soviet intelligence apparatuses—from the KGB to today’s FSB and SVR—have intellectually weaponized the Palestinian political space by converting legitimate local aspirations into a destabilizing proxy vector against Western liberalism. In effect, Moscow has long kept established a template for active measures (specifically disinformation–disingenuous arguments and lies–driven by political ends), strategic deception, and kleptocratic control by corrupt political elites. To produce for themselves a more genuine sovereignty, Palestinian intelligentsia may undertake review of the lineage accepted without critical facility, dismantle the inherited Soviet security state, and reclaim integrity in independent research and–with that honesty established–integrity in language as well.

1. The Operational Blueprint: Operation SIG and Semantic Inversion

Following the catastrophic defeat of Moscow’s Arab state clients in the 1967 Six-Day War, KGB Chairman Yuri Andropov and General Aleksandr Sakharovsky realized that conventional military confrontation against Western-aligned states was a dead end. Moscow and its manipulation Palestinian “leaders” have lied to Palestinians for decades as regards their Jewish neighbors. Kyle Orton’s astute observation of plain factual “pro-Palestinian” errors may provide the fuel for a right revolutionary fire against . . . lies, for both Israelis and Palestinians might benefit from the kind of truth that may be questioned, explored with integrity, and affirmed, corrected, or trashed.

The study finds that the Times admitted seventy-two errors in its coverage of the war, forty-eight of them (fully two-thirds) directly against Israel. It is a point that authors do not stress, but should have: there is not a single case of false Times reporting that negatively affected the image of HAMAS. If incompetence was all that was going on here, the “mistakes” would not all be in the same direction. As telling on this point, the “errors were identified by external sources” and when corrections were issued they were often “late, vague, and sometimes evasive”.

Orton goes on to cover bias, deceptions, and misrepresentations in The New York Times‘ reporting on the Israeli-Hamas war.

For denizens of the American Far Left (or Far Right) one would think carelessness with information would be resented–the same informs the equivalent of lies with intent to manipulate popular perception while massaging along the way egos with malign narcissistic, partisan, and ultimately only selfish ends. They are those who worry about how they may look rather than how things are and what might bring improvements in security and in the enjoyment of life.

So why play along with falsehoods?

Criminals, including political ones, advance their interests through coercion (blackmail, bribery, intimidation, and patronage), fraud (misrepresentations), and force (violence). Any in and of the modern west may only wonder how some in and near Gaza may feel about being bullied, essentially, into a compliant posture toward retrograde and vicious power.

The interests of modern societies are not in power but in area-wide qualities of living of concern to the health of environments and of species supported, much including our own. For assorted cavemen, cowards, and criminals, coercive power, corruption, and wealth appear all that matter.

First things first: Israeli Precision Guided Rockets neither miss their their targets nor fail to destroy them in their entirety.

The explosion that took place did so in a parking lot, and it produced no cratering nor damage to nearby buildings.

Next: Arabs may lie to save face and sustain pride in allegedly blameless fashion.

I would ascribe such behavior to primitive, medieval, and tribal mentality and would do so across cultures inclined to both humiliate and spoil their boys as humiliation motivates the development of the malignant narcissist.

The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) analysis has included review of Israeli military launch records; radar air activity tracking records; reverse-tracked rocket fire traced to the proximity of the hospital, i.e., rocket trajectory show the launch took place south of the hospital–and not far from it; and independent video of the actual failure of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad’s rocket.

In intercepted audio communications, launch controller-tracker officers note the location of launch as a cemetery behind the hospital . . . . So there’s the location south of the hospital–a cemetery!–and both cause and opportunity to lie about the attempt.
