While our Muslim group had gone to the Haram (Masjid Al Aqsa) for the Friday Prayers, the others of us (the 4 Jews and the 4 Christians) went to Ecce Homo Convent, up onto the terrace overlooking the vast platform of the Masjid. Once the Azan (the Muslim Call to Prayer) had been recited, we spent a few moments in silence, each of us praying in our own way. There seemed to be an invisible link connecting those in ther Haram and those on the terrace.
The eight of us then went down to the room we had been using for our discussions and broached the question of whether it is possible for us, from our three contrasting traditions, to pray together. We can of courser gather together in prayer, but can we actually pray together to the one God of us all?
