What Hamas and others have in mind isn’t about land: it’s about the existence of Jews in light of their presumptuous possession of the final instructions from God, which they use handily to manipulate their minions and aggrandize themselves. Political absolutists all, they lie and struggle without end to aggrandize themselves through crime and kleptocracy. For those in Gaza not sharing the Hamas mission sense, political solutions have been always at hand. Fatah has a slightly different racist cast with the pan-Arab movement and now historic Soviet influence, but it too as represented by Mahmoud Abbas has reached its dead end mired in anti-Semitic cant and directly related political impotence, blind racist hate never matching in power the presence of a healthy and productive attitude toward humanity. http://english.al-akhbar.com/node/18454

“Anti-Semitism” is never only about the Jews. The attitude and posture have much wider margins that over time isolate the bearers, induce a barbaric narcissism, and, predictably, bring down the roof on their own heads. Would that “brown shirts”, Hamas, and ISIS and others could be definitively isolated from surrounding populations and dealt with noncombatant involvement, but they really use the defenseless reliably.

Pakistan this past month has attempted to empty whole quarters to get at Taliban his past month and has displaced hundreds of thousands of Pakistanis in doing so — and Taliban have shaved their beards to elude security notice, and the state has a long way to go — as do the Arab states with such as Hamas — in channeling off the related and perverse jihadist worldview.

From the last URL:

Reuters found no evidence that Khamenei puts these assets to personal use. Instead, Setad’s holdings underpin his power over Iran.

To make Setad’s asset acquisitions possible, governments under Khamenei’s watch systematically legitimized the practice of confiscation and gave the organization control over much of the seized wealth, a Reuters investigation has found. The supreme leader, judges and parliament over the years have issued a series of bureaucratic edicts, constitutional interpretations and judicial decisions bolstering Setad. The most recent of these declarations came in June, just after the election of Iran’s new president, Hassan Rouhani.

Gaza and the ICC – ” . . . could we ourselves be indicted?” Surprising Answer by Ibrahim Khraishi, Palestinian Human Rights Council Ambassador

But in an astonishing admission this week, the Palestinian representative to the UN Human Rights Council, Ambassador Ibrahim Khraishi, suggested that things are not so simple. (Watch the YouTube clip here.)

Speaking on July 9th to Palestinian Authority TV, Khraishi told a very blunt and very inconvenient truth: the rockets fired from Gaza toward Israel are “each and every one a crime against humanity whether it hits or misses, because it is directed at civilian targets.” While he argued that settlements were also a crime against humanity, he challenged the idea that ICC prosecutions would be a one-way street. Noting that he was not a candidate in any elections, and so he could speak the truth, he went on . . . .

FTAC

Hamas has embraced a genocidal mission based in the theft of religious precepts and related successionary ambition. It’s very flattering to itself, and while it has gotten fat and built mansions on skimming funds and collecting tunnel tolls and various forms of taxation, it has demonstrated its love of people by making sure to put noncombatants between its operations and “blast and battle”.

The New Old Now Old Far Out and Lost Left (see “International Solidarity Movement” for example) has been getting money from somewhere and puffing itself up for just this kind of glorious man-the-barricades moment. It too doesn’t offer much beyond the grandstanding.

As I have read that Allah favors those who restrain themselves, I may do just that and refrain a while from posting my own opinion from elsewhere, which practice has just gotten weird.

I have a blog, for pete’s sake!

My prayers to Gaza noncombatants, non-Hamas residents who have asked for jobs, built businesses, taken care of their homes, and lived peacefully and would go on doing so were it not for the fire starters among them who literally bring war into their homes.

Assorted Previews

Warning tactics used by the Israel Defense Forces to apparently avoid civilian casualties in Gaza have been captured on camera. In a video published on LiveLeak, an IDF aircraft fires a loud, nonlethal bomb on a building to alert residents that they’re in the area of a target, allowing them to leave quickly.

http://www.newsweek.com/video-shows-gaza-residents-acting-human-shields-israeli-forces-258223 – 7/10/2014.

. . . as Israel has stepped up its efforts to try and spare civilians even as it seeks to silence the terrorist fire, Hamas has also increased its efforts to ensure that as many inhabitants of Gaza as possible are hurt in the fighting.

Smuggled Syrian-made rockets based on a Chinese design have boosted Hamas’ 10,000-strong arsenal which is dominated by crude homemade devices, officials and experts say.

A surface-to-surface weapon that struck the coastal town Hadera – 30 miles north of Tel Aviv and 70 miles from the Gaza Strip – is an “M-302 type rocket” similar to a shipment of rockets Israel intercepted at sea in March, the Israeli Defense Forces said Wednesday.

Hamas faces an unprecedented economic and political crisis. The Egyptian government regards it as an enemy, has clamped down on smuggling activity, and kept the Rafah border crossing mostly closed. It has lost its Syrian base and Iranian support as a result of the Syrian civil war. Now its authority is weakening inside Gaza: it is on the point of bankruptcy and has been challenged by jihadist groups buoyed up by the success of Isis.

Reminder: http://yalepress.yale.edu/yupbooks/book.asp?isbn=9780300127270 & http://www.meforum.org/522/the-smoking-gun-arab-immigration-into-palestine The easy story that makes thugs of Jews and victims of innocent Palestinian, may not be the true story — and it’s not: “The Palestinians who were forced out of their homes . . . .”  What about the Palestinians who fled their homes in advance of Arab columns and the promised destruction of Israel and the Jews?  How is it that Arab Muslims and Christians came to comprise 20 percent of Israel’s fully enfranchised citizenry?  What does one make of the camps of Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, and Syria (yesterday’s Syria) in which Arab states have penned and manipulated and diminished the very people their armies abandoned in the field?

The prompt was the opening sentence of a bit of advice to the Palestinian leadership.

Around thugs, I suppose, it’s easier to live with a loyal lie — and attempt to live out that lie — than it is to wrestle with an uncomfortable but reliable truth.

FTAC – MEC – Nix Jealousy – Sub Enraged Beneath the Boot of Fascist Systems

Palestine in the 19th Century had a limited fixed or in place population that would then respond to the development of an expanding Jewish agricultural economy. Talking up jealousy serves convenience in that it may be easier to comprehend and imagine — and we do so all the time — than the hamstrung state of being held powerless within an autocratic and totalitarian system. Jealousy may be the latch that opens a channel for rage; to my thinking, however, the source of that same rage may be broadly distributed political impotence and suffocation as stage managed by Arab leaders.

Gloating, jealousy, and simmering work together.

In fact, for storytelling, those three suffice for comic panels and storyboards — king of the mountain, the scrambling underdog, the fury of effort to claim defend and claim the hill would seem eternal, and yet beneath that template is simply the fact the the powerful in autocratic states manage the survival of others through the caprice and the grace or denial of their favor and patronage.

Related from earlier this year (2014):

The prompt had to do with response to the success of others (http://www.prageruniversity.com/Political-Science/Do-You-Pass-the-Israel-Test.html#.U70n65RdV8F). Perhaps for empathy, perhaps for my humanitarian rejection of the self-flattering adoption of the pioneer outlook — that same “myself against the world” that fits the personality that becomes the powerful malignant narcissist — I felt the difference in outlook between that and “myself with the world” in a world deeply confused by and mired in suffering.

In the URL just noted, the speaker appears to set up the familiar model: Industrious Smart Jews vs Dumb Lazy Arabs / Winning Achievers vs Jealous Losers.

The model itself is egregious in that while it speaks to appearance overlooks the political conditions in which the vast majority of Arabs struggle with power in their own right beneath the architecture of deeply fascistic regimes.  Dispense with “dumb lazy” and replace with leaders who exhibit themselves as supremely selfish and frequently stupid as regards their regard for others, especially the mass of their constituents over whom the same often exert extensive and absolute control.

It should go without saying that the same, whether somewhat secular dictatorship or religious monolith, deflect toward the Jews and the House of Israel the angers and resentments that they themselves provoke and sustain.

I should think it counterproductive for Jews to gloat before such downtrodden while ignoring the structural and true contributing agents to their plight.

My comment continues with a note from the Middle East Forum (from 2003) on the subject of Palestinian demographics.

“The great economic development of the coastal plains—largely due to Jewish immigration—was accompanied both in 1922-1931 and in 1931-1944 by a much stronger increase of the Muslim and Christian populations in this region than that registered in other regions. This was probably due to two reasons: stronger decrease in mortality of the non-Jewish population in the neighborhood of Jewish areas and internal migration toward the more developed zones”

The United States has provided economic and military aid, respectively, to Jordan since 1951 and 1957. Total U.S. aid to Jordan through FY2013 amounted to approximately $13.83 billion. Levels of aid have fluctuated, increasing in response to threats faced by Jordan and decreasing during periods featuring political differences or reductions of aid worldwide. On September 22, 2008, the U.S. and Jordanian governments reached an agreement whereby the United States agreed to provide a total of $660 million in annual foreign assistance to Jordan over a five-year period, ending with FY2014. In the year ahead, both parties may try to reach a new five-year aid deal.

Under President Barack Obama-who seeks to expand PA paramilitary units-the United States has pledged to continue to pour hundreds of millions of dollars a year into Abbas’ coffers, with large sums dedicated to the security forces. This is despite objections from Congress and appeals by Palestinian human rights organizations. Obama has exercised waivers to continue to fund the PA security forces.

Bedein, David.  “On the Brink: Decline of U.S. trained Palestinian Security Forces.”  January 9, 2013

The unspoken truth is that the Palestinians, the country’s largest ethnic group, have developed a profound hatred of the regime and view the Hashemites as occupiers of eastern Palestine—intruders rather than legitimate rulers. This, in turn, makes a regime change in Jordan more likely than ever. Such a change, however, would not only be confined to the toppling of yet another Arab despot but would also open the door to the only viable peace solution—and one that has effectively existed for quite some time: a Palestinian state in Jordan.

What I Have Said About the Jews

My people, not that I speak for them, I nonetheless describe as a "global ethnic commune with its heart in Jerusalem and soul in the Land of Israel."

We have never given up on God, nor have we ever given up on one another.

Many things we have given up, but no one misses, say, animal sacrifice, and as many things we have kept, so we have still to welcome our Sabbath on Friday at sunset and to rest all of Saturday until three stars appear in the sky.

Most of all, through 5,773 years, wherever life has taken us, through the greatest triumphs and the most awful tragedies, we have preserved our tribal identity and soul, and so shall we continue eternally.

Anti-Semitism / Anti-Zionism = Signal of Fascism

I may suggest that anti-Zionism / anti-Semitism are signal (a little bit) of fascist urges, and the Left -- I'm an old liberal: I know my heart -- has been vulnerable to manipulation by what appears to me as a "Red Brown Green Alliance" driven by a handful of powerful autocrats intent on sustaining a medieval worldview in service to their own glorification. (And there I will stop).
One hopes for knowledge to allay fear; one hopes for love to overmatch hate.

Too often, the security found in the parroting of a loyal lie outweighs the integrity to be earned in confronting and voicing an uncomfortable truth.

Those who make their followers believe absurdities may also make them commit atrocities.

On Press Freedom, Commentary, and Journalism

In the free world, talent -- editors, graphic artists, researchers, writers -- gravitate toward the organizations that suit their interests and values. The result: high integrity and highly reliable reportage and both responsible and thoughtful reasoning.

This is not to suggest that partisan presses don't exist or that propaganda doesn't exist in the west, but any reader possessed of critical thinking ability and genuine independence -- not bought, not programmed -- is certainly free to evaluate the works of earnest reporters and scholars.
