I compose on X with greater facility than here on BackChannels because the urge to explain the state of affairs has been reliable provoked and the publishing, so far, decisive and immediate. The impact, however, feels low, and the site overall appears untrustworthy, more the tool of the bigot from South Africa’s power than representative of the power of responsible and truthful media. Be that as it may, I’m still active on the X platform but very tired of relaying and repeating the truth about Donald, his criminality, and his pirating the state for himself.

When Katie Crook heard the news on Thursday that President Trump was imposing 50 percent tariffs on imported kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities, she immediately thought about Italian-made kitchens and American oak.

“There is a difference between U.S. oak and European oak,” said Ms. Crook, whose firm, Heritage Cabinetry and Design in Santa Barbara, Calif., designs cabinetry that is built to order by companies in the United States, Canada and occasionally Europe. “European oak has a tighter grain and is a little bit more durable,” she said, adding that cabinetry made in Italy has an “ultramodern” look that isn’t easily replicated.

Whether it’s me or the X algorithms, what should have afforded a lively interactive chatyping has come to shouting into a canyon or spitting into the ocean. Nada. This morning’s sermon from my worn old keyboard: Trump = Criminal.

Not so long ago–this from the elephant’s memory–one published once and moved on; in this era of “social” networking and related influencing, one finds one’s favored chatyping points plus opportunity to repeat them tirelessly — well, perhaps not quite. #RussiaRussiaRussia? ? ? No more, dear God, Nature, and the Universe.

I believe my voice clear, pointed, and persistent but on X (and Bluesky) without efficacy and just lost (or buried) in the high pile and limitless slurry of earnest and outraged statements by all similarly motivated.

Forget the “memory hole”–I’m wondering how to escape the morass.

I have my targets.

Vladimir Putin’s Russia is burning–and it is losing its war with Ukraine.

Donald Trump is being slowly cornered by his own display over a lifetime as a “short-fingered vulgarian” with a history involving Soviet and post-Soviet Russian power plus a conniving ruthless history as a developer and landlord and another history involving Italian and Russian mafia. Will his MAGA base come up to speed on reality? The Artificial Intelligence Large Language Models, the Internet search engines in general, and the plain overwhelming lot of honest, high-integrity analysis and reportage bodes will for criminals, compulsive liars, and the entire Trump-Putin class of malignant narcissists . . . provided the public — however one may define that, whether as western, global, Mongolian in spirit, straight out of Valdai, or out of Chatham House or, gasp, even the Neo-Nazis of the ass-kissing kowtowing Heritage Foundation: truth matters–and those possessed of curiosity, courage, and integrity themselves are going to find it.

Vladimir Putin who appears to have gotten his big step up into the international spotlight via the Moscow Apartment Bombings appears well done in the most unfavorable of ways. It has been truly something to watch him glad-handing and parading with the most repressive and totalitarian of “leaders” in the world while his country declines in power, its oil business deeply damaged, its most visible Black Sea fleet sunk where it once inhibited the aggression of others with its very presence. Putin has not been very good for Russians or even the circles that patronized and promoted his existence for gains of their own. The ugly power of the Phantom of the Soviet may be finally . . . fading even while smiling for the cameras.

For Americans and the too easily seduced MAGA movement as well as the progeny of the criminal-lunatic Puritan front that colonized its portion of the nation, intent on wealth and the subjecting of women to charges of witchery and the unspeakable “penalty” of burning at the stake, have had their moment through Donald Trump who appears most of all intent on controlling EVERYTHING as a dictator and a despot with his roots firmly planted in the American experience with greed and unconscionable ruthlessness. As the Nazi he so well has admired, he has made himself opposed to all that would be good and noble, much preferring a marble plaza to the lawn that graced the White House rose garden–and then beside it a dance hall for the wealthiest of the America’s — and the world’s elites — and damn Americans (including MAGA Americans) not so well graced.

In its framing, the Cold War appeared to pit Russian Communists against American Capitalists, and the defeat of Russia’s ageing leadership through the bankrupting of the state, an inflection point helped along by the Russian Army’s ejection from Afghanistan, seemed to signal the end of a titanic struggle. There was just one problem in the aftermath: the criminal KGB that had run the Soviet enterprise into the ground wasted little time in putting itself back in business and by the winter of 1996-7 appears to have been handling Ayman al-Zawahiri for his compact with Osama bin Laden and the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Centers that was to follow (reference on his blog: https://conflict-backchannels.com/2022/07/19/detecting-post-soviet-russias-black-narrative-of-revenge-for-89-and-91/).

Donald Trump had come to the attention of the KGB (if not beforehand) with his marriage to Ivana whose father, Miloš Zelnícek, reported to the Czechoslovakian secret internal police force, the ŠtB, a behind the Iron Curtain operation aligned with the KGB. He must have proven even back than that he could be handled and channeled to undermine the national purpose and related security of the United State of America.

While President Trump mulls the matter between the despotic Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian defense, dignity, and freedom, he has not proven much of a defender, if any at all, of the Western civilizational experience that birthed the secular democratic republic known to all as the United States of America. He has yet to prove to Americans that he knows his country and understands his job. As he fails the nation by degrading its administrative complement, especially in the regions of Justice and Security, and puts in place the mindless and venal enablers and sycophants that enables his narcissistic dream, he too may be expected to look old, archaic, far out of place in power over a people that would be free to choose their course with assurance and confidence. He’s made himself gold, this American President, but he has brought ruin to much of what he has bought, managed, or operated.

With Donald Trump in power, American may share the feeling of being marched forward into a past characterized by the power of feudal-medieval mafia to (in retrospect, inevitably) destroy themselves.

How many Americans — how many American neighbors — sunk in hunger or pain will quietly dissolve before power into a living death–or death–without a fight for their right to the dignity of their existence beneath the security umbrella of a nation that has their back?

Moscow and its manipulation Palestinian “leaders” have lied to Palestinians for decades as regards their Jewish neighbors. Kyle Orton’s astute observation of plain factual “pro-Palestinian” errors may provide the fuel for a right revolutionary fire against . . . lies, for both Israelis and Palestinians might benefit from the kind of truth that may be questioned, explored with integrity, and affirmed, corrected, or trashed.

The study finds that the Times admitted seventy-two errors in its coverage of the war, forty-eight of them (fully two-thirds) directly against Israel. It is a point that authors do not stress, but should have: there is not a single case of false Times reporting that negatively affected the image of HAMAS. If incompetence was all that was going on here, the “mistakes” would not all be in the same direction. As telling on this point, the “errors were identified by external sources” and when corrections were issued they were often “late, vague, and sometimes evasive”.

Orton goes on to cover bias, deceptions, and misrepresentations in The New York Times‘ reporting on the Israeli-Hamas war.

For denizens of the American Far Left (or Far Right) one would think carelessness with information would be resented–the same informs the equivalent of lies with intent to manipulate popular perception while massaging along the way egos with malign narcissistic, partisan, and ultimately only selfish ends. They are those who worry about how they may look rather than how things are and what might bring improvements in security and in the enjoyment of life.

So why play along with falsehoods?

Criminals, including political ones, advance their interests through coercion (blackmail, bribery, intimidation, and patronage), fraud (misrepresentations), and force (violence). Any in and of the modern west may only wonder how some in and near Gaza may feel about being bullied, essentially, into a compliant posture toward retrograde and vicious power.

Enserfment refers to the virtual enslavement of workers to select business owners and industrialists beneath the umbrella of a vast system of patronage headed by a leader invested with absolute power in relation to all persons and property–one to whom there should be no difference between the two in their treatment–within his domain.

Free men would never stand for it; easily led and subjugated men would–and will.

With America boarded, commanded by a wealthy criminal, disarmed from the top, and prepared for plundering, Americans may have only their agitating protest for power, a not insignificant power but perhaps a power the same criminal mentality in high office may choose to ignore with impunity and thereby dismiss as merely a bothersome noise.

To produce enserfment: break the country’s economy as well as confidence in it; reduce the middle class; shrink government support for basic standards of living as well as modern healthcare. Who among the patronized wealthy should care about those impoverished and without means for even their own basic dignity and independence? And who among those reduced in means as well as access to education and defense against illness–or aid with established conditions–will have the capability, cognizance, desire, and energy to defend the democracy that had in fact become The Great Society, i.e., a national culture and government strong and stable and methodically given to improvements beneath the remit of the nation’s secular democratic republic?

Donald Trump’s reactionary clique would do away with basic defenses against the potential ravishing of the nation’s human and natural complement by private interests. For example, both Jeff Bezos (e.g., https://www.nytimes.com/2024/02/15/business/economy/amazon-labor-nlrb.html) and Elon Musk (e.g., https://www.nytimes.com/2024/01/03/business/spacex-elon-musk-nlrb-workers.html) have sought to neutralize the venerable National Labor Relations Board defending workers from each titan’s own unconscionable greed and venality.

Donald’s Gulag

A second Trump administration threatens to accelerate mass incarceration, further dehumanize people in our criminal legal system, engage in a death penalty “killing spree,” and reverse many reforms gained over the last two decades.

Trump’s proposals are dangerous on two levels. First, with respect to the federal system, Trump will seek to double down on the failed policies of the past: encouraging brutal policing practices, pursuing extreme sentences, and expanding the use of the death penalty. Second, Trump’s racist and extremist rhetoric may embolden states that have previously embraced reform to return to failed crime policies, fueling mass incarceration and widening racial inequality – https://www.aclu.org/trump-on-the-criminal-legal-system.

Before reporters entered the room, Trump even suggested to Bukele he should build more prisons because the mega-prison isn’t “big enough” to hold “the homegrowns” he wants to send from the U.S.

“We’re studying the laws right now,” Trump said, after earlier saying they “always have to obey the law.”

With President Trump, an American felon has arrived in power as a political force. We may keep in mind that he faces at least three additional felony-level trials should he ever lose power: election interference in relation to January 6, 2021; classified documents abuse for the haul he tried to hide at Mar-A-Lago; attempted election fixing for his “perfect phone call” begging for a fraudulent win in Georgia. As an American President who perhaps has his position confused with that of a mafia don, he’s bound to have some enemies he believes deserve prison for disliking him vocally. Why should he differ from any other fascist contemporary in power or personality to be dredged out of the more repugnant patches of history?

As it stands, anyone Donald Trump says is a criminal may be treated as one given his own arrogant, ignorant, and impudent lawlessness.

Sovietization

The boot in the face, the knock on the door, the secret police — the tropes of dystopian literature have arrived in corrosive small displays.

The “fake news” proves real and Trump-approved news as delusional as its judge; the Republican Party (for cowards, criminals, sycophants, and traitors) has shown the nation the independence of the rubber-stamping Soviet Duma; the agencies most devoted to fighting crime and securing the homeland have been handed over to clowns unqualified for public service by their defects in character, education, and experience. Bottom line: the longer Trump remains in power, the greater his opportunities for exploiting the capabilities of the Federal government for his own financial and political gain. Add in “emotional gain”, i.e., “Narcissistic Supply” and the illusion — to be sustained by himself for himself — of unlimited public adoration and validation. After all, he’s making America great again and information contrary to that must be diminished. The tools of the Soviet to be embraced by Trump-Putin:

  • Dictatorship (Confined-Exclusive Political Control)
  • Enserfment and Mass Incarceration
  • Neutralized Critical Press
  • Political Mafia
  • Political Repression
  • Psychiatric Abuse; Punitive Psychiatry
  • Punitive Surveillance State
  • Secret Political Police
  • Totalitarianism

The “leadership” of the worst of all political worlds must convince or force its population to believe it lives in the best of all possible worlds. There are ways for “power” to do that, and they are all on display in America, China, Hungary, North Korea, and Russia, i.e., the states in which the leading thug and related associates strive to control the image of the “great leader” and “greatest state” by controlling the elements in government and in media that contribute to it.

Donald Trump appears to be laying the groundwork for a deeply authoritarian and criminal American government by abusing his power to engage in the kind of nepotism that encourages loyalty unto himself and related blind and unconscionable sycophancy. While he’s finding the American Federal Government’s defensive capabilities present, he’s only in his first year of leading American democracy to ruin.

Realpolitik

In the process of faking American leadership, Donald Trump has — as suggested above — run into real American official and popular resistance. Trump’s tariff drive and trade war against all balanced, open, and stable markets has not been smooth while efforts in other dimensions lurch around like pinballs against administrative and judicial bumpers. Trump, as he has promised with elections, prefers rigged machines.

Against Trump’s chaotic know-nothing recklessness, the American system stands but unsteadily with its confused institutions, their powers in Trumpian antibodies, and Trump’s own driven narcissistic delusions and related stupidity.

Contrary to popular belief: Frances, Allen. “I helped write the manual for diagnosing mental illness. Donald Trump doesn’t meet the criteria.” STAT, September 6, 2007. However, read the author’s statement about Trump’s mentality:

Trump is an undisputed poster boy for narcissism. He demonstrates in pure form every single symptom described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) criteria for narcissistic personality disorder, which I wrote in 1978. But lots of successful people are extremely narcissistic without being mentally ill — think most celebrities, many politicians, and a fair percentage of writers, artists, lawyers, doctors, and professors. To qualify for narcissistic personality disorder, an individual’s selfish, unempathetic preening must be accompanied by significant distress or impairment. Trump certainly causes severe distress and impairment in others, but his narcissism doesn’t seem to affect him that way.

On X, I’ve asserted the following for guidance: “delusional, grandiose, messianic ideation absent of normal boundaries and limits, i.e., the parameters of normal conscience.” If that’s not part of the DSM, I’d think the volume inadequate for addressing “Malignant Narcissism”, for every related–and above bolded term–may be searched on the web. Also as regards the narcissism of the healthy, the better natured and reparative in character may deserve or have earned a positive regard for the egoism inseparable from their own quest or struggle for success, i.e., the presence of a reparative narcissism along the lines of Maslow’s healthy competence-seeking behavior and self-esteem. When we’re good–or in the vicinity of excellence in our arts and professions–we many not need the limitless public adoration and validation that defines “Narcissistic Supply” and the neediness of the malign.

Has the United States of America been infiltrated, invaded, overpowered by elements either foreign to it, foreign to its character. or in fact opposed to its American Constitutional ideals and intentions?

American Character and Integrity Matter — Truth Matters

Down every avenue of honest nonpartisan inquiry, one finds President Trump a traitor to the United States of America, a convicted felon who has only evaded trials involving American identity and American national security as indicated by indictments for election interference, classified documents abuse, and attempted election fixing, and yet, as of yesterday, he has once again been handed the immense power of the American Presidency. Now comes a new question: have American governments and more brave and earnest American politicians as well as America’s most spirited artists, community leaders, journalists, investigators–all of whom may prefer American truth to American bullshit–the power to defend American Democracy against an apparent usurper and a tyranny of the “majority”? And Trump is a so-called “American President” who has made this bald promise in effect to all Americans: “It’ll be fixed. It’ll be fine. You won’t have to vote anymore my beautiful Christians . . . in four years you don’t have to vote again, we’ll have it fixed so good you’re not going to have to vote” (YouTube video, Turning Point Action, July 27, 2024).

American Community

Americans should be American in spirit as well as by geopolitical fact, but what an “American” is today appears questionable. Gone: an all-white polity; forgotten: E Pluribus Unum. The latest generations of American Natives and Native Americans may all claim to have been born in the United States of America, and whether happy with that or not . . . that’s just a fact of life. Whoever we are, we are all here. And perhaps now we need a New American Community, one that affirms its ethics, morals, principles, and values–and some of that may need updating and redefinition to suit the full complement of the nation–and one that rejects the racist and religious wet dreams best laid to rest in some dimming recollection of archaic medieval attitudes, beliefs, and practices.

We are Americans, and our power is not all white, nor need it ever be so again. There is no “Great Replacement” . . . .

So while we Americans think about who we are NOW and what we should be and mean to be–and not what may be engineered and forced on us by coercion, fraud, and force or the MAGAdumb–well, that has been the character of our Convicted Felon in Chief–we might have to accept a little bit of Moscow’s white nationalist crap at the top of what really has been a long dismissed and lost–and good riddance–America.

A conversation in public; trolling ladies with barely an X-presence; trolling fakes probably making up lists suited to their own derangement; a great lot of follows–really: the best notables in diplomacy and political science and related fields (most don’t know me, but I’m proud to have come to know of them)–and a pretty good base (still under one thousand) of followers–and God bless each and everything one of them. Apart from that “action”, lol, I live alone in a library. Earnest live and evolving conversations seem few to nil and far between or not expected at all.
