If the screenshot banner copy is unclear or too small to read, it says, “‘Killing Jews is Worship that draws us close to Allah’ — Hamas MTV.  That’s His Jihad, What’s yours?”

 Comment From The Awesome Conversation

The Geller and Spencer and other anti-Jihad shows ask of Islam sufficient introspection and courage emphasize virtue, reform if necessary, and put both the 20th Century inspiration for the “Muslim Botherhood” and related poison-in-the-head out of business so that more of the world can get to work on other things.

However, the conflict and violence that assaults us daily by way of global media — and investment in this region of discussion — hasn’t only to do with Islam: it has to do with the interpretation of power — absolute and feudal or distributed and democratic. “Putin-Assad-Khamenei” are of a type, and Islam, especially in the middle east, has been “played” (ref.: Pacepa and Rychlak) and plays to their deeply medieval world vision and the image they have of themselves in it.

The Jews continuously, famously, remove themselves from cults of godlike personality and continue eternally in search of the Promised Land. Instead of imposing, the commune invites, and perhaps after Hillel, some ideas about a common humanity become borrowable but also political and little bit crooked (in Judaism, for example, all of the prophets are drawn as faulted humans, deeply so, and kept separate from God). For our grandiose delusional dictators fascists malignant narcissists, the limitation perhaps seems a deep affront and “control”, sadistic and total, becomes their thing. Must we have them? “Syndicate Red Brown Green” and NATO, more or less, are wrestling over it. Hamas is way down on the food chain (thank Khamenei, among others, for keeping it in business) but it’s leveraging some Islamic zeitgeist to produce chaos, fear, and sorrow around itself serves the larger press of the feudal mode.

Not only “the awesome conversation” elicits the above but also simply visiting these themes — conflict, culture, language, psychology — day after week after month after years: things come to the surface.  Some become so familiar as to become blog-based tropes:

No Moses — no Muhammad

Hillel the Elder –> Jesus, Paul, Constantine –> Muhammad

The Torah begins with God

The Torah, closely read, compels progressive ethical and moral argument

Syndicate Red Brown Green (post-Soviet neo-feudal Russia; new national socialists; Islamists)

Expect some items to show up on the “Alpha – Zulu” page of this blog.  Others may be simply plugged into meditative political writing as fit.

The tests of will in conflict that BackChannels has come to perceive has been very much within the medieval vs modern template, which would be fine if the medieval proved good.  The matter, however, has been complicated by a dark portion in psychology, i.e., the compulsive, endless, and helpless fascism and sadism of the malignant narcissist.  Too often, capricious power — power considering itself above all natural laws and inclined to create and make the same to suit itself without limits — comes to impose suffering on others with impunity.  It (!) appears to prize the annihilation of others and the erasing of time out of the urge to exist in a timeless world entirely of its own fashioning — and doing so it dooms itself to annihilation.

Link – Dandachi on Anti-Semitism and Islamophobia

True, Muslims in Myanmar face genocidal persecution at the hands of state backed Buddhist extremists. To follow the thinking of the Pamela Gellers, Bill Mahers and Daniel Pipes of this world to its logical conclusion is to see Myanmar replicated in the West. It would require state sponsored genocide on several continents to even begin to put a dent in growth of the Islamic religion. Islamophobia can be very nasty, but even the most committed group of sit-in-a-think-tank-and-babble-on-about-taqiya Islamophobes cannot possibly pose an existential threat to the Islamic faith.

Unfortunately, the situation regarding Jewish communities around the world is much more precarious.

Associate the theme of this blog, “malignant narcissism”, with “bullying, deceiving, and sabotaging.”

Two videos plus one:

February 24, 2015.

Addendum

The missing Hirsi Ali video had recorded her observations in relation to watching the video that followed.  BackChannels does not (yet) know what happened with regard to that video.  By way of the spirit of this post and the blog that surrounds it, here is a more recent YouTube video featuring Ayaan Hirsi Ali and consistent with the role she has carved out as a public intellectual critical of Islam.

Posted to YouTube April 12, 2015.

While the Jewish Virtual Library maintains a page on “Ethical Monotheism”, BackChannels has yet to see a de-ethnicized (set apart from originating ethnolinguistic culture) Jewish option in belief and faith apart from the Ethical Culture Movement launched by Felix Adler.

“So, what do we do?” The answer: continuous jihad against despots.

Know them for “malignant narcissists”.

Know them for their autocratic criminality — for Iran, start with the “chain murders” and dwell a while on Evin and the dismal business of hanging even children on trumped or insufficiently investigated charges.

Know them for what they do for money — and how much (look up Reuters on Setad and Khamenei and have a look at what “Wiki” states about Ali and his brother [$60 billion in amassed wealth]).

Know them for their own feudalism and the company they keep: Putin-Assad-Khamenei + Orban + Erdogan.

And then keep them out of power.

Forever.

God, nature, and the universe are everywhere around and in us, and we humans tend to embrace a conscionable evolution and revolution across time.

May the monster that leads one day look back over his shoulder for followers and find himself surprised to find none.

Fine words, those, but we’ve come to an age in which for each Yanukovych (who got booted from power by way of popular revolt) there seem to be half a dozen copies of Mugabe, who has stayed in power long enough to become an old man and one most likely to die peacefully in his sleep, guilty of nothing in the protective bubble of his kind of consciousness and narcissism.

Aden

Reuters – April 13, 2015.

Iran’s war-by-proxy sneaked under cover of negotiations over its nuclear program has tragically turned Aden, Yemen into another battered middle east war zone in the fashion known to “Putin-Khamenei-Assad” — merciless, mindless, piratical, and ruthless.

The troika have been waging the medieval against the modern — the destructive and thieving potential of absolute power against the productive democratic distribution of power — for years, and visible so since the onset of Syria’s civil war.  With the distribution of military personnel into Crimea and Yemen, the dynamic Putin-Khamenei duo have brought payback in flooded oil markets and online opprobrium, although I don’t think either Putin or Khamenei bothered by criticism, at least not on the surface and outside of their bailiwicks.

Three sources in the southern port city’s anti-Houthi militias said the Iranians, identified as a colonel and a captain, were seized in two separate districts that have been rocked by heavy gun battles.

“The initial investigation revealed that they are from the Quds Force and are working as advisors to the Houthi militia,” one of the sources told Reuters.

“How can Iran call for us to stop the fighting in Yemen?” asked the the top Saudi diplomat at a news conference alongside French counterpart Laurent Fabius. “We came to Yemen to help the legitimate authority, and Iran is not in charge of Yemen.”

VICE – September 10, 2014.

Lonely bloggers cannot compete with funded international media in reporting the news, unless we have unusual friends on the ground.

However, as audience to mainstream media — and conflict adventure media — we may wrap events differently online, read about what we are seeing when we’re offline, and perhaps approach conflict and political analysis with something combining humanism, journalism, and scholarship.

As regards the above clip, this blogger may reflect on what a single lie can do in the way of evil.

At 2:31 in the video immediately above, Iman Dr. Taha says to his gathering, “I told him, “What are you doing?  Your country is getting destroyed.  This is all part of an action by American intelligence.  And today, a new order was given telling the world that 70% of foreigners are terrorists who want to rip our country apart.  They want to kill our people and our nation and destroy our unity.  The faith is Yemeni and the wisdom is Yemeni.  God is great.  Death to America.”

That audience: handled, misguided, maneuvered, used.

It appears they haven’t the means or temerity to question what they’re told (and independently discover for themselves who has been lying to them all along — and why).

A Note on the “Inspiration of Inattention”

Russia signed a contract worth about $800 million to deliver S-300s to Iran in 2007. But the U.S. and Israel pushed the Kremlin to drop the deal, expressing concern that Tehran could use the sophisticated air-defense system to protect its nuclear facilities from an attack.

Sonne, Paul.  “Russia Lifts Its Ban on Delivery of S-300 Missiles to Iran: The Kremlin removes ban implemented by Dmitry Medvedev in 2010.”  The Wall Street Journal, April 13, 2015.

BackChannels recalls that in Moscow last November, Mikhail Bogdanov and PFLP representatives discussed S-300 missiles (reference string: “Moscow, PFLP”).  Could this breaking news refer back to that chat?  By its $800 million figure, the contract bandied about seems the same, a perennial niggle for the diplomats involved.

Related from 2010: BBC.  “Kremlin bans sale of S-300 missile systems to Iran.” September 22, 2010.

Kais, Roi.  “Report: Russia to supply Syria with S-300 missiles.”  YNet News, November 30, 2014.

Russo-Iranian expansionism provide certain distractions with utility.  For example, with world (foreign policy) attention on Tehran’s bargaining over its nuclear chips, Tehran’s war-by-proxy Houthis fairly rolled up Aden, Yemen.

Call the technique the “inspiration of inattention.”

Crimea’s adverse conditions aren’t simply limited to economics, however. The region’s inhabitants have faced systematic discrimination since becoming Russian citizens. In particular, Crimea’s Tatar Muslim minority is suffering levels of persecution not seen since the Soviet era. This pressure includes “disappearances, sadistic murders . . . attacks on media, and arrests on trumped-up charges,” according to one informed observer. So pervasive has this discrimination been that, back in February, the United Nations took the unprecedented step of publicly condemning Russia’s treatment of the Crimean Tatars.

Should any reader not only overlook but forget why Ukrainians gave Putin’s bulldog Yanukovych the boot in the first place: YanukovychLeaks National Project: A group investigating the documents found in Mezhihirya.

With their oil revenues cut — the reduced pricing behind that helped along by improvements in North American energy independence — the cloaked Mafia States appear to appear in a different kind of media daylight.  Venezuela’s President Nicolas Maduro, among the highest paid politicians in the world, recently reached for the skirts of absolute executive authority — the dictator’s most comforting tool: rule by decree, no questions entertained for long, if at all — and wailed “mad, evil, heinous and shameful” over what the Yankees were doing (nothing out of the ordinary) to his boys.

After so many years of sanctions, one would expect the suffering of Iran to have suffered more deeply by now, and that they have done, not that the regime much cares.  Today’s Breitbart contains some analysis of how released cash flow may work — Nazarian, Adelle.  “Why were Iranians celebrating on the streets of Tehran last week?”  Breitbart, April 13, 2015.

What con does not expect to get his marks “looking the other way”?

(Reuters) – Iran on Monday urged the formation of a new Yemeni government and offered to assist in a political transition, comments likely to anger Saudi Arabia, which is backing Yemen’s president against a rebel force allied with Iran.

The Houthi advance towards the Yemeni city of Aden forced President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi to flee to Riyadh last month and triggered a Saudi-led campaign of air strikes to try to drive back the rebels, who share their Shi’ite faith with Iran.

Guest Post by Kay Wilson – From Egypt, Peace Activists Kay Wilson and Ahmed Meligy

This is a 4-minute message of peace from Ahmed Meligy, an Egyptian and me, an Israeli. I was frightened to travel to Egypt, a Muslim country, because I am scarred from a Muslim machete. Yet I trusted Ahmed, who is also scarred from his time in an Egyptian prison. We are two different people from two different cultures, guilty of a mutual crime; our unequivocal insistence that Israel has the right to exist, survive and thrive.

Peace is not a bogus deal signed between the leader of the free world and a rogue state bent on destroying the State of Israel.

Peace is impossible with any leadership that justifies incitement that leads to terrorism; the maiming and murder of innocent civilians for political gain. However, true peace is possible and it happens when people of different cultures and faiths are willing to see beyond the dissimilarities and embrace one another as equal human beings.

Rabbi Nachman said, ‘the whole world is a bridge and the main thing is that we should not be afraid.’

Ahmed, as we walk this bridge together, we will hold each other’s hand. I hope that many will follow. May G-d keep you brave and safe my friend. I love you.

“In a process of profound importance, five Arab states in the Middle East have effectively ceased to exist over the last decade. The five states in question are Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen and Libya. It is possible that more will follow.

The causes of their disappearance are not all the same. In two cases (Iraq, Libya) it was Western military intervention which began the process of collapse. In another case (Lebanon) it is intervention from a Middle Eastern state (Iran) which is at the root of the definitive hollowing out of the state.”

What I Have Said About the Jews

My people, not that I speak for them, I nonetheless describe as a "global ethnic commune with its heart in Jerusalem and soul in the Land of Israel."

We have never given up on God, nor have we ever given up on one another.

Many things we have given up, but no one misses, say, animal sacrifice, and as many things we have kept, so we have still to welcome our Sabbath on Friday at sunset and to rest all of Saturday until three stars appear in the sky.

Most of all, through 5,773 years, wherever life has taken us, through the greatest triumphs and the most awful tragedies, we have preserved our tribal identity and soul, and so shall we continue eternally.

Anti-Semitism / Anti-Zionism = Signal of Fascism

I may suggest that anti-Zionism / anti-Semitism are signal (a little bit) of fascist urges, and the Left -- I'm an old liberal: I know my heart -- has been vulnerable to manipulation by what appears to me as a "Red Brown Green Alliance" driven by a handful of powerful autocrats intent on sustaining a medieval worldview in service to their own glorification. (And there I will stop).
One hopes for knowledge to allay fear; one hopes for love to overmatch hate.

Too often, the security found in the parroting of a loyal lie outweighs the integrity to be earned in confronting and voicing an uncomfortable truth.

Those who make their followers believe absurdities may also make them commit atrocities.

Positively Orwellian: Comment Responding to Claim that the Arab Assault on Israel in 1948 Had Not Intended Annihilation

“Revisionism” is the most contemptible path that power takes to abet theft and hide shame by attempting to alter public perception of past events.

On Press Freedom, Commentary, and Journalism

In the free world, talent -- editors, graphic artists, researchers, writers -- gravitate toward the organizations that suit their interests and values. The result: high integrity and highly reliable reportage and both responsible and thoughtful reasoning.

This is not to suggest that partisan presses don't exist or that propaganda doesn't exist in the west, but any reader possessed of critical thinking ability and genuine independence -- not bought, not programmed -- is certainly free to evaluate the works of earnest reporters and scholars.
