America, Far Left, hate, political, politics, rhetoric

Americans are not victims of America.

We own America.

We work for America as Americans and whether in private industry or government, we and every neighbor is in one or the other, Main Street to Wall Street, police station to military barracks in the far reaches of the world.

Hate America, undermine America, blame America — look in the mirror.

When aid to Pakistan, domestic and military, reaches Pakistan, it’s in Pakistani hands to spend. If much of that spending gets lost, goes without audit, does not make it to The People of Pakistan, does not improve security or domestic qualities in living, we didn’t spend it: we gave it.

Secrets-keeping governments naturally inspire conspiracy thinking and paranoia. Knowing this, in the U.S., we divulge our secrets, many, most, and all across time. Some decades may pass between act and acknowledgement but the truth (here) always surfaces. Our real armies don’t wear uniforms. Sometimes they don’t even get out of their jeans and sweatshirts, but they’re up to their elbows in historical research that may be and will be examined by peers and third parties and very possibly by God Almighty himself. That knowledge tends to make everyone responsible.

Such as ISIS love ambivalence, doubt, and weakness in targets, and the degree to which the same will sacrifice others not for God but for plunder and the merciless dominance of others is breathtaking.

If you think Iraq was a mistake, look over Saddam’s palaces built on the backs of his people. Ask the Marsh Arabs about the destruction of their timeless way of life. Ask the Kurdish people about what it’s like to be gassed en masse by an implacable tyrant. Speak to the Shiite about serving the Baathist “cause”.

Really hate the west: stop taking our money, time, resources, ingenuity, and available spending. The “west” for its part could and should do better to encourage better ecological and labor practices in its trading partners plus greater insistence on democracy and human rights. Beyond that, we give — Pakistan spends. If the state has problems with itself, swap out the politicians in the next round of elections.

Whether through the sewage pumped out by the solidarity movements are loose souls wandering in the shadows of one fascist past or another, there are global “Hate America First” crowds.

When cozy, they talk, inventing words that never existed, but it makes some feel good to have a central fixture for pelting with verbal stones.

Sound like something of which you may be aware?

Well, that’s language for you.  It has echoes, ghosts, mirage, murmurs, and reminders, and while it may be easy to go with so many programs that create ideas and relationships in our heads, we sometimes stop to think a moment about Iraqi poverty in the age in which Saddam Hussein maintained his palaces, and then we say “wait a minute — let’s have a closer look at how that works.”

That’s all it takes sometimes: a closer look at gross inequality, injustice, implacable will, and the numbing cruelty that accompanies them.

FTAC – Comment on Anti-Semitism and Fear

anti-Semitism, language, lying, political psychology

The motivation of anti-Semitic thought relies deeply on lies, not only libels and slanders against the Jews (and others) but also obfuscations and omissions involving speakers and, plainly, invention involving familiar malignantly narcissistic self-aggrandizement. As people like to hide something or to get something — and sometimes what is to be hidden or gotten is small, but sometimes the shame or the theft is large — the related experience of fear, instilling it or suffering it, plays into the language and related behavior as well.

I’ve no need to repeat the lie that prompted the response.  It was dismal, juvenile, scatological.

I’d rather be a film producer than a small country’s President for Life.

Many questions come up with the dissolving of absolute power in definite ways.

Putin has traveled so far into Russia’s future that he’s made it back to the 19th Century and given us the spectacle of a $51 billion Olympic party. From China, the elite have been getting themselves into the cushiest real estate Melbourne, Australia has on offer. Ayatollah Khamenei heads up a $91 billion private enterprise, and much of it built on state seizure AKA “theft”.

On the other hand . . . it’s cool to visit The Pyramids. Or Versailles.

Over popcorn, we’re able to enjoy not only The Last Emperor but The Last Samurai as well.

And how else have I described my own digs but as “a mansion inside a cabin or cottage inside an apartment replete with kitchen, bar, and grill, dining hall, home theater, and a two-thousand volume library?

Add broadband.

And for walking the fine estate (like Yanukovych), there’s a Barbour in the closet and a gravel lane at the base of the complex.

Just say “Quixote“!

And I am there.

In a State I refer to as “19th Century Modern“.

🙂

And over coffee: good morning!

The prompt: a conversation about political absolutism, more or less.

Your editor on this blog lives a an hermetic and modest life albeit with a wealth in books plus some ownership of his own time.

A rabbi with whom I had lunch now and then wondered, “What if you had six-thousand-dollars a month for living?”

I drew a blank at that remote prospect.

However, probably, I’d get into a small house and update the now 15-year-old car.

🙂

I’ve a neglected journal-styled blog online, so will stop here with that.

On related politics and political psychology: a healthy narcissism takes pride in others as well as the self.  It produces built things and services that no less than good rhetoric “delights, educates, and entertains”.  Our malignant few: those delight, educate, and entertain primarily themselves!

The chain of power I’ve described as Putin-Assad-Khamenei (“together they are defending political absolutism”) deeply exploit their own in the development of what they perceive as their own glorious image (never mind what they Yanukovych Papers may have to tell us about the class in general).

FTAC – Multiculturalism – Comment – Age of Dissent

cultural evolution, multiculturalism

Modern standards may link to a better informed perception of demarcations between childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. It hasn’t anything to do with affluence: we just know better. Cultures that maintain an earliest onset standard (or worse) may well be regarded as backwards and, frankly, stupid (uninformed) or stubborn or both. As with “honor killing”, we may recognize the anthropological and cultural evolution of the social behavior (we’re a wild species, after all, and we invent ourselves and pass on our invention through generations), but we don’t have to validate it or otherwise fit it into modern terms.

The topic was childhood marriages and related abuses, and the above paragraph was my thread-killer response.

While worldviews needs must shift with boundary changes and knowledge in the world, evolving cultural self-concept may involve selective discarding of no longer useful assumptions or habits of mind.  Why hold on to what is not true?  Or to what failed to work?  Or what is not working?  Or what is needlessly, uselessly dangerous or painful to another?

None sail without casting off lines and leaving old ports of call.

From another thread in response to not being dictated to by the U.S.:

Independence in curiosity and thought may not be dictated. Those attributes would seem within the province of the adventurous and bright across cultures and across time. However, exploration, illumination, insight, surprise, and vision may may be bound together in the complete intellectual tour.

Worlds, Distilled

Empirical method vs magical thinking is part of contemporary conflict as are secret societies vs open ones (but none are completely open) and loyalty to power vs integrity and loyalty only to what is ideal, what is God, and what are nature and the universe. Which of the worlds should one wish to inhabit: the world of everything imaginable is possible? The world of knowing, not guessing, with high probability of accurate perception?

On the web, I’ve been swimming of late through the worlds of “preppers” and “truthers”, one community preparing three-day “bug out bags” for the short-term surviving of a disaster, which admittedly, is nowhere impossible, and the latter continuing to blame all large-force variables on the usual pack of suspects: the Jews, the United States, the CIA, Mossad, et al.  If it’s hidden in their soul and projected into reality, the same in targets suits the ascription of responsibility: the hidden hands of hidden will have arranged their worlds, and they are hell bent on figuring things out by guessing wildly, seeing selectively, and proving their perceptions objective, however disingenuous or tortured their arguments may be.

Given the shakiness of such realities, I’m inclined myself to turn some attention to writing fictions.

anti-Semitism, online groups

The question was, more or less, do you let the haters participate?

Ah. The Jewish Question. 🙂

This is why I have a difficult time being away from Facebook for even a day.

Anti-Semitism is the gateway drug of bigots and criminals, and addressing it firmly, openly, squarely is a part of the Jewish “healing the world” (Tikkun Olem), a part of contemporary and decent governance, and a part of real political revolution and human progress and is itself anti-devolutionary.

In U.S. realspace and realpolitik, we protect our bigots. 🙂 They’re free to march, run web sites, and talk trash. They are also treated as marginal people and socially marginalized because the vast majority of the nation is intellectually, politically, and socially wired otherwise. Although pressures spinning off the Brotherhood and Hezbollah movements, the Wahhabi influence, and the Islamic Small Wars in general have a re-tribalizing (“circle-the-ethnic-wagons” effect for everyone), we’re still Americans who work with one another by custom and law without regard for “race, creed, color, or religion”.

Modern Pakistani drive and medieval Pakistani reality are contextually different, but if the want is the want of a modern state: stand up now. Three points:

1. Refuse to tolerate the intolerant.
2. Channel the retrogressive away and elsewhere.
3. IF you want to read Tarek Fatah’s _The Jew is Not My Enemy_ 🙂 and to go on to have an extended talk about anti-Semitism, let’s create a forum space specifically for that.

As mentioned, the black flags will get into [closed forum] and attempt to do their thing: do not let them get away with their criminality.

FTAC – Choudary’s Arrest – Lay Comment on Freedom of Speech

Choudary arrest, political freedom, politics

Freedom of speech is nowhere completely free. The law excludes conspiracy and incitement to commit crimes, or, as with shouting “Fire!” in a crowded theater, to produce mayhem. In wartime, and a part of Islam seems committed to warring continuously with the west, democratic and open societies may also choose to outlaw seditious speech while tightening up on that traitorous speech related to spying.

As Choudary believes himself Muslim, as do the host of Brotherhood and Hezbollah elements, he speaks as if Muslim while embracing a regressive and retrograde agenda for all others. I doubt his case will produce much sympathy, if any, outside of Islamic circles.

While one may swear to defend to the death disagreeable political speech, the threat of imminent death associated with the speaker’s rant may draw the limit on that that principle and sentiment.

All the men were held on suspicion of being a member of, or backing a banned terrorist group and supporting terrorism. The alleged offences, which come under two counter- terrorism acts, carry a maximum penalty of seven years’ imprisonment.

Choudary was arrested at an unknown location after fleeing his home two weeks ago in the middle of the night in the wake of threats from far-Right groups.

Just hours before he was held, he posted a burst of nine inflammatory messages on Twitter, branding the US bombing raids as a ‘rallying call for Muslims’ and labelling the actions of Western governments in Muslim countries as ‘terrorism’.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2769098/BREAKING-NEWS-Nine-men-arrested-counter-terror-police-London-suspicion-encouraging-terrorism.html#ixzz3EY4XhUYo – 9/25/2014.

We will probably hear in relation to Choudary’s arrest the same sociopathic cant reserved for Aafia Siddiqui, by temperament a different kind of plotter but with much the same destruction, hate, and mayhem in mind.

Update: How Dangerous Can He Be?

http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2014/sep/26/anjem-choudary-released-on-bail – 9/26/2014.

Not to make light of court decisions made between fair modern British law and a feudal demagogue and rabble-rouser, perhaps the Crown has done right by treating Choudary no differently than anyone else.

Epigram

Hillel the Elder

"That which is distasteful to thee do not do to another. That is the whole of Torah. The rest is commentary. Now go and study."

"If I am not for myself, who will be for me? If I am not for others, what am I? If not now, when?"

"Whosoever destroys a soul, it is considered as if he destroyed an entire world. And whosoever that saves a life, it is considered as if he saved an entire world."

Oriana Fallaci
"Whether it comes from a despotic sovereign or an elected president, from a murderous general or a beloved leader, I see power as an inhuman and hateful phenomenon...I have always looked on disobedience toward the oppressive as the only way to use the miracle of having been born."

Qohelet Raba, 7:16

אכזרי סוף שנעשה אכזרי במקום רחמן

Kol mi shena`asa rahaman bimqom akhzari Sof shena`asa akhzari bimqom rahaman

All who are made to be compassionate in the place of the cruel In the end are made to be cruel in the place of the compassionate.

More colloquially translated: "Those who are kind to the cruel, in the end will be cruel to the kind."

What I Have Said About the Jews

My people, not that I speak for them, I nonetheless describe as a "global ethnic commune with its heart in Jerusalem and soul in the Land of Israel."

We have never given up on God, nor have we ever given up on one another.

Many things we have given up, but no one misses, say, animal sacrifice, and as many things we have kept, so we have still to welcome our Sabbath on Friday at sunset and to rest all of Saturday until three stars appear in the sky.

Most of all, through 5,773 years, wherever life has taken us, through the greatest triumphs and the most awful tragedies, we have preserved our tribal identity and soul, and so shall we continue eternally.

Anti-Semitism / Anti-Zionism = Signal of Fascism

I may suggest that anti-Zionism / anti-Semitism are signal (a little bit) of fascist urges, and the Left -- I'm an old liberal: I know my heart -- has been vulnerable to manipulation by what appears to me as a "Red Brown Green Alliance" driven by a handful of powerful autocrats intent on sustaining a medieval worldview in service to their own glorification. (And there I will stop).
One hopes for knowledge to allay fear; one hopes for love to overmatch hate.

Too often, the security found in the parroting of a loyal lie outweighs the integrity to be earned in confronting and voicing an uncomfortable truth.

Those who make their followers believe absurdities may also make them commit atrocities.

Positively Orwellian: Comment Responding to Claim that the Arab Assault on Israel in 1948 Had Not Intended Annihilation

“Revisionism” is the most contemptible path that power takes to abet theft and hide shame by attempting to alter public perception of past events.

On Press Freedom, Commentary, and Journalism

In the free world, talent -- editors, graphic artists, researchers, writers -- gravitate toward the organizations that suit their interests and values. The result: high integrity and highly reliable reportage and both responsible and thoughtful reasoning.

This is not to suggest that partisan presses don't exist or that propaganda doesn't exist in the west, but any reader possessed of critical thinking ability and genuine independence -- not bought, not programmed -- is certainly free to evaluate the works of earnest reporters and scholars.
