FTAC: On the Tetanus Vaccine Mass Sterilization Rumor and Potential Interaction with East-West Conflict

Inspiration for anger: http://healthimpactnews.com/2014/mass-sterilization-kenyan-doctors-find-anti-fertility-agent-in-un-tetanus-vaccine/ (banner: “Health Impact News: News that Impacts Your Health that Other Media Sources May Censor!”).

One might wish that others posting in the world’s open and socially networked web environment would be responsible about it and take the additional 30-seconds it may take using Google search (or Bing, whatever) to check out claims. This particularly vicious sterilization-by-vaccine rumor has been in circulation for decades.

BC’s immediate response to the post follows.

Disinformation.

The story may be a good example of Soviet Era “Active Measures” carried forward into the post-Cold War period. It appears this claim has been in circulation for decades, and not only in Kenya but several other developing nations.

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/tetanus-vaccine-sterilization/ | https://africacheck.org/2016/05/25/analysis-why-does-an-old-false-claim-about-tetanus-vaccine-safety-refuse-to-die/ | https://www.vaccineconfidence.org/old-rumours-resurface-the-tetanus-vaccine-story/ | https://www.unicef.org/kenya/media_15665.html

Take note of the nations involved — Mexico, Nicaragua, Tanzania, Philippines, Argentina, Bolivia — and their interaction with east-west (Moscow v Washington) conflict.

https://www.workers.org/2009/world/julius_nyerere_1105/

I cannot prove my thesis, such has been the nature of manipulation from “behind the curtains” down through the ages, but often enough, it would seem those who most claim to be interested in Justice turn out also to be the most obsessed with acquiring Absolute Power — and that “by any means necessary”.

In 2014, The Washington Post got involved in this surreal silliness, noting that, “The issue is far from settled: The government says it tested the same vaccine for the presence of the hormone and found none. The government and the Catholic leadership group even used one of the same labs to test the samples, apparently receiving different results” (Abby Ohlheiser, “The tense standoff between Catholic bishops and the Kenyan government over tetanus vaccines”, November 14, 2014).

The possibility of chicanery should not be overlooked in relation to deeply partisan interests.

While the history of the Catholic Church and Communist Movements has been complex, both systems counsel power as absolute, whether the Power of Almighty God or the Power of Communal Man. At least one source-at-a-glance notes the blending of the two in the 1960s through infiltration.

Whatever the fine points of history may be — and the devils are always in the details — “framing” a medical miracle, whether vaccination for polio or vaccination for tetanus as an evil thing, would seem itself a deed most evil and intended to sow discord and fear. Why? Those who promote malicious perception may then portray themselves as the bearers of hope and order.

Islam orders the Muslim to be honest to himself and others. This order repeatedly comes in the Noble Qur’an and the sayings of Prophet Muhammad (SAWS). Islam orders the Muslim to tell the truth even if it is against the teller’s interest. Orders him not to cheat or deceive other people. A Muslim is ordered by Allah to be honest in his words and deeds, privately and publicly alike.

http://www.islamawareness.net/Honesty/honesty_article003.html

Portions of The Other Side have been considered as Holocaust denial by some critics,[8] especially the parts disputing the accepted number of deaths in the Holocaust as well as the accusations that Zionist agitation was the cause of the Holocaust,[9] a charge that Abbas denies.[10]

When Abbas was appointed the Palestinian prime minister in 2003, he wrote that the “Holocaust was a terrible, unforgivable crime against the Jewish nation, a crime against humanity that cannot be accepted by humankind” and that he does not deny it,[11] and said that “When I wrote The Other Side … we were at war with Israel. Today I would not have made such remarks”.[12] More recently, in 2013 he reasserted that part of his thesis that “the Zionist movement had ties with the Nazis”.[13][14] In 2014, he stated the Holocaust was the “most heinous crime in the modern era”.[15]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Other_Side:_The_Secret_Relationship_Between_Nazism_and_Zionism

Apparently, Mr. Abbas spreads lies when at war with Israel but shrugs through the truth when its suits him.

Or perhaps when it suits his family’s wallet.

These documents, reports from senior Fatah officials and Palestinian social media reveal extensive corruption at the highest levels — the Abbas family and a Palestinian elite manipulating the political and financial systems to benefit themselves at the expense of the people.

The architect of the Holocaust, Nazi mastermind Adolf Eichmann, was one of the first to deny its existence. While escaping the Nuremberg trials and evading international law, Eichmann befriended Nazi supporters in Argentina who published an anti-Semitic magazine titled “Der Weg,” or “The Way.” The magazine aimed to disprove what they called “the falsehood of the 6 million.” The magazine claimed the Holocaust was nothing but a libel, that there were never any gas chambers in Hitler’s Europe and that the Jews collaborated with the Third Reich in order to have another country for themselves after thousands of years in exile. According to Eichmann and the magazine’s publishers, the Jews were willing to sacrifice themselves to gain a national homeland.

Many Arabs were enthralled by this theory, and a young doctoral student by the name of Mahmoud Abbas, now the president of the Palestinian Authority, even wrote a dissertation on the subject titled, “The Other Side: The Secret Relationship between Nazism and Zionism,” which opened the door for several different conspiracies on the subject of the Holocaust to develop.

The Arabs were among the first Holocaust deniers to adopt Eichmann’s theory.

In the proverbial east, so it would appear, what may not be accomplished honestly may be accomplished through guile — and if not guile, plain lying and force.

One social trope BackChannels has heard regarding lying: “Any who lie to you don’t respect you.”

Fair enough.

BackChannels wonders to what extent those who lie to others, especially Palestinians who lie to Palestinians, respect even themselves.

Expect updates to this post as more material comes together on Abbas representative of the end of a long cycle of totalitarian dictatorship — perhaps more gently, “authoritarian governance” — comes into view on the world stage.  Today’s political crooks get covered in global media and come to look exactly as they have painted themselves throughout the course of their careers.  Mahmoud Abbas?  KGB — he has the record of it, and once marked is marked forever with that organization — so whose interests, apart from his own, is he really representing?

Abbas has also made for himself a record as a Holocaust denier although he has backed away from that lunacy — still, one may wonder how many unwarranted words — assertion of fact that just aren’t true — he has still to recover.

The motivation of anti-Semitic thought relies deeply on lies, not only libels and slanders against the Jews (and others) but also obfuscations and omissions involving speakers and, plainly, invention involving familiar malignantly narcissistic self-aggrandizement. As people like to hide something or to get something — and sometimes what is to be hidden or gotten is small, but sometimes the shame or the theft is large — the related experience of fear, instilling it or suffering it, plays into the language and related behavior as well.

I’ve no need to repeat the lie that prompted the response.  It was dismal, juvenile, scatological.

Weide on Woody — A Lesson in Malicious Communication

… when a celebrity is being devoured by the two-headed piranha of gossip and innuendo, I usually have minimal understanding of what they did, or were alleged to have done. Woody Allen is an exception.

The Woody Allen Allegations: Not So Fast – The Daily Beast – 1/27/2014

I usually reserve this blog for really bad news, say that generated by terrorist revolutionaries throwing bakers into their own roaring ovens in Syria or, more recently, allegations of Burmese Rakhine (Buddhists) hanging Burmese Rohingya (Muslim) children as part of a real and ongoing “ethnic cleansing”; be that as it may, the theme connecting what drives conflict in the Islamic Small Wars and similar strife with Woody Allen’s domestic and celebrity travail involves integrity in speech: i.e., telling the truth.

In the above cited piece, Robert B. Weide combs through the allegations — the “two-headed piranha of gossip and innuendo” — that have clouded Woody Allen’s reputation for two decades, and I thought it a tour de force in methodical investigation and review, the kind of truth-telling, unvarnished, valid, and reliable, that makes the world a better place in which to live, a place in which some things may be known and some things — speech intended to manipulate and misdirect — dismissed.

Addendum

The lie that tore my family apart – Salon.com – 9/20/2010.

The regions of belief beyond the empirical find their closed doors and with them their imaginations.  We humans needs must live with what we cannot objectively know as well as with our vulnerabilities to suggestion and the guaranteed “accident” that on numerous occasions, we will guess and make the wrong call.

American-based groups promoting an anti-Muslim worldview took in more than $119 million in revenue between 2008 and 2011, a new report by the Council on American-Islamic Relations has found.

Anti-Muslim groups in the US raised $119 million between 2008 and 2011, report finds – NY Daily News by David Knowles, 9/19/2013

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) conceals donations from overseas through a series of shell organizations, according to documents from court actions involving the Muslim advocacy group.

Since its founding in 1994, CAIR has presented itself to American Muslims and the media as a single organization centered on American concerns. But it shows a different face to the IRS, with multiple corporate entities that conceal the large financial donations that come to CAIR from Middle East sources.

Remember: lies are told for only two reasons: to hide something; to get something.

“Trust me,” says the big brother, and fearing him, one might; however, with “big brothers” and others, it may be better to know what they’re about than to pin fate on loyalty and the business of being liked, favored, allowed to live, etc. by a perceived greater power.

After three years of litigation in federal court in Washington, D.C., AFLC has uncovered facts demonstrating that CAIR has been running a global criminal money laundering operation out of the nation’s capitol. The scheme was discovered in the course of legal discovery in two separate federal lawsuits arising out of allegations by five of CAIR’s former clients that CAIR defrauded them by failing to provide the legal services they had been promised.

CAIR — the Largest Muslim Brotherhood-Hamas Front Group in America — is Running a Money Laundering Operation | Blog – American Freedom Law Center 9/20/2013

I owe absolutely no allegiance to either the American Freedom Law Center or CAIR — or anyone else cited in this blog — but some I trust more than others on the basis of other than affiliation, affinity, identity, or loyalty.

I trust on the basis of the shared ethical and spiritual investment in the nobility of certain values and virtues, integrity first and foremost among them.  This is religion-as-way and if the way is good, the good way may be more universal than specifically affiliated, cultural, or tribal, the appreciation I’ve developed for reform Judaism’s ethos notwithstanding as I have seen the same shared in others carrying within them other cultural legacies and traditions.

If the reader is of another sort — “my flag vs your flag” in most manners of thinking — this division between the perception of an objective reality that may be investigated and a subjective desire that must be defended and hidden (remember!) becomes cause for fretting and tension.

The group of interest: CAIR.

Perhaps an enemy is not one who tell you that you may be on a wrong track: it is one who says that you are right on the wrong track.

Enter the most cogent and wonderful of fairy tales: “The Emperor’s New Clothes”.

Autocrats and dictators, their handlers and sycophants indeed lie to get something: power — and, specifically, power over others: to sell them clothes that don’t exist (we focus more on the emperor in the tale than the evil tailors, but without the tailors . . . read on) for the sake of glorious claims that have no substance — or good substance — either.

CAIR has attempted to create many misconceptions about ALAC legislation which require correction and clarification.

For instance, CAIR suggests that the purpose of ALAC legislation is to target religious practices. This accusation is baseless.

Enacted on Friday, July 19, 2013, the bill frequently characterized as “anti-sharia” — that shorthand for practiced Islamic doctrine and code associated with, say, for example, Saudi Arabia — more readily defends the Federal and North Carolina state constitutions and their laying out of quintessential American rights.

The American “anti-Jihad” as one might call those aligned against CAIR and whom CAIR would seem to attempt to bite back has been all over the above legislation.  In fact, it took me a few minutes to peg “North Carolina House Bill 522” because web searching, say, “American law ALAC initiatives” would seem to lay bare a fair portion of the community without pointing toward the above noted PDF!

Acronym ALAC (for any foreign readers of BackChannels) stands for “American Laws for American Courts”.

“It has been a long three years, but the resolution we obtained made every step worth it,” said Hani Khan, who spoke at this morning’s press conference. “I am hopeful that my struggle and this victory will ensure that what happened to me at Abercrombie never happens to any other employees there. Oddly, perhaps, North Carolinians would find the ruling ALAC compliant, although, perhaps, it might violate the retailer’s control of its fashion expression.

On the other hand, perhaps (and, perhaps, I have developed a “perhaps” verbal tic), the A&F look — “Authentic American clothing since 1892” shouts its slogan on the web search listings — has just gotten an upgrade.

What I Have Said About the Jews

My people, not that I speak for them, I nonetheless describe as a "global ethnic commune with its heart in Jerusalem and soul in the Land of Israel."

We have never given up on God, nor have we ever given up on one another.

Many things we have given up, but no one misses, say, animal sacrifice, and as many things we have kept, so we have still to welcome our Sabbath on Friday at sunset and to rest all of Saturday until three stars appear in the sky.

Most of all, through 5,773 years, wherever life has taken us, through the greatest triumphs and the most awful tragedies, we have preserved our tribal identity and soul, and so shall we continue eternally.

Anti-Semitism / Anti-Zionism = Signal of Fascism

I may suggest that anti-Zionism / anti-Semitism are signal (a little bit) of fascist urges, and the Left -- I'm an old liberal: I know my heart -- has been vulnerable to manipulation by what appears to me as a "Red Brown Green Alliance" driven by a handful of powerful autocrats intent on sustaining a medieval worldview in service to their own glorification. (And there I will stop).
One hopes for knowledge to allay fear; one hopes for love to overmatch hate.

Too often, the security found in the parroting of a loyal lie outweighs the integrity to be earned in confronting and voicing an uncomfortable truth.

Those who make their followers believe absurdities may also make them commit atrocities.

Positively Orwellian: Comment Responding to Claim that the Arab Assault on Israel in 1948 Had Not Intended Annihilation

“Revisionism” is the most contemptible path that power takes to abet theft and hide shame by attempting to alter public perception of past events.

On Press Freedom, Commentary, and Journalism

In the free world, talent -- editors, graphic artists, researchers, writers -- gravitate toward the organizations that suit their interests and values. The result: high integrity and highly reliable reportage and both responsible and thoughtful reasoning.

This is not to suggest that partisan presses don't exist or that propaganda doesn't exist in the west, but any reader possessed of critical thinking ability and genuine independence -- not bought, not programmed -- is certainly free to evaluate the works of earnest reporters and scholars.
