American Election 2020, Trump's Baseless Claims

Inspiration: calls from the Right Far Right for an election “do-over”.

From the Awesome Conversation

To do it needs evidence, and no valid or reliable evidence for recount has yet to surface. Accusation and innuendo (from a president who lies to wives and everyone else) remains — and will be found — insufficient for delaying the calling of a carefully and highly secured election.

Now anyone can be wrong, and most of us will examine things we’ve done, have a look into our souls, and ask if the problem might be with ourselves rather than external forces. We query ourselves and experience either guilt, rightfully, or good conscience, rightfully. That integrity within ourselves is part of our being free to be Americans.

We don’t shout the other fellow down.

Our Left and Right fringes with immoderate human components want to have the world always their way. It’s their response to some perceived political impotence. Most of us want a world — and politics — that work OUR Way Together. So we compile (valid and reliable) data, and we go over our sense of ethics, morals, principles, and values — and we argue. That’s been more the right way of doing things — and getting GOOD things done.

From the hinterland far up north:

WASHINGTON — For 40 hours, President Donald Trump fumed in private and tweeted his grievances in all caps.

When he at last emerged, it was to stand behind the presidential seal in the White House and deliver a diatribe most notable for his litany of false statements about the election and his attempt to cast doubt on the integrity of the democratic process.

Anchorage Daily News – “Trump spreads baseless accusations over the election, at White House and on Twitter – November 6, 2020.

Politico – “Trump reframes his baseless claims of widespread voter fraud” – 11/6/2020.

And so the incumbent President Trump has inspired Republican doubt —

Then the Trump campaign then got lucky: The case was assigned to a federal judge who had been appointed by President Trump just last year.

But when the arguments began, and the Trump campaign was presented with every opportunity to come forward with evidence, it had none whatsoever supporting its claim — so the Trump-appointed judge had no choice but to throw out the lawsuit.

Even sources like Fox and the New York Post that have been favorable to the conservative framework have questioned President Trump’s political perception.

Fox – “Ex-Arizona GOP AG Woods: Trump claims of election fraud are completely baseless — his lawsuits will fail” – 11/6/2020. Note from this piece: “Yet in Florida’s primary earlier this year, Trump actually voted by mail himself.”

WASHINGTON — President Trump repeated his unfounded claim that political foes were trying to steal the election from him during a briefing on Thursday evening as he trailed his opponent and remaining swing states were leaning toward a Joe Biden presidency.

Nevada – Trump Lawsuit to Disrupt Count Meets Resistance in the Courts

So your eyes don’t glaze over with the legalese, here’s only the opening salvo fired at incumbent President Trump’s effort to derail or disrupt the election count in Nevada –>

For the fifth time since April, a conservative leaning entity or organ of the Republican Party has run to a Nevada state or federal court with entirely fabricated claims of voter fraud and vote dilution.1 Each time, their claims have been unsuccessful. Indeed, just four days ago, in a nearly identical case, Judge Wilson from the District Court in Carson City found after an eight-hour evidentiary hearing that the same lawyers who filed this lawsuit had failed to offer evidence of “any fraudulent ballot being validated or any valid ballot invalidated” or any evidence of “debasement or dilution of a citizen’s vote” because of Clark County’s use of a signature match machine. Ex. B, Nov. 2, 2020 Order, Kraus v. Cegavske, No. 20-OC-00142-1B, Dept. 2, at 4, 13. Similarly, Judge Wilson found baseless Plaintiffs’ claims that public observation of the process was being in any way unlawfully impeded. Id. at 10-11. Now, with nearly all of the votes in the state having already been counted, a group of plaintiffs backed by President Trump’s campaign has filed a lawsuit requesting a remedy that would meaningfully slow Clark County’s ballot processing just as its votes could swing the presidential election.2 The Democratic National Committee (“DNC”) and Nevada State Democratic Party (“NSDP,” together, “Proposed Intervenors”) plainly have a significantly protectable interest in this case.

Boogaloo Bois, Oath Keepers, Patriot Prayer, Proud Boys, and The Base, among others, appear to love him.

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/18/white-nationalist-hate-groups-southern-poverty-law-center

https://www.politifact.com/factchecks/2020/oct/06/joe-biden/fbi-director-warned-about-white-supremacist-violen/

I’ll agree that leftward spin attempts to conflate the President’s attitude with laxity toward these groups, but that these groups find hope with Trump and number among his supporters — and they have grown with his presidency — tells us about the character of his mission despite the harness that comes with high office.

https://nymag.com/intelligencer/2020/10/fbi-wont-have-doc-on-domestic-terror-until-after-election.html

Trump’s enthusiasm for Alex Jones, his several felons (start with his initial selection of “campaign manager” Paul Manafort), and his positive relationship with conspiracy theories tell us about us and what we are willing to endorse.

Of course no American President would endorse the Far White Right cadre of committed supremacists, but the persistent relationship — they like him! — plus soft stance from Trump’s podium remain. While The Donald may wrestle with the phantom of father Fred (e.g., https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/02/28/in-1927-donald-trumps-father-was-arrested-after-a-klan-riot-in-queens/ | https://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/28/us/politics/donald-trump-housing-race.html), his here-and-now image has been and will probably remain besmirched by the tolerance so far shown those bigoted apparently for fear of displacement or narcissistic want of exception, both predicated on white Christian identity.

Post-Election — and the FBI will soon publish a report on domestic terrorism that includes an assessment of white-supremacist threats — race and religious issues will continue to fester in America despite so much progress made through civil rights and other activism across decades. They will do so — we will have this region of domestic conflict — because of the resonance between “camps” set up by those who foster and harbor fear and hate in relation to their chosen targets among fellow Americans.

“America First!” has been shouted before in American political history.

“American Patriots” v “Globalists” should have been laid to rest when birthed.

ANTIFA continues turning out a fascist’s wet dream, for even today, despite the shows on the streets between flag wavin’ gun-totin’ Trumpites and black-capped anarchists, the FBI has yet to identify the features of an organized terrorist element. Instead, well click here for what showed up in at least one net: https://www.9news.com/article/news/crime/woman-arrested-denver-police-protests/73-b7aec5bb-5529-4b9e-b5ea-869b2dc928e2

Nonetheless, some general American ignorance has brought us to this pass where some on the Far White Right (predominantly) believe their nation under assault by mysterious communist-globalist-socialist forces while scrimmages within Far Out Left circles believe the nation reverted to the 1930s and “race war” is on the way.

Are you an American?

Take the oath!

If you believe and can speak it with good conscience.

Posted to YT October 2, 2020.

Americans don’t need “Us v Them” here.

Americans need a “We” and an “Us”.

We Americans have a lot of data, ideas, and impressions within us when we wake and coming at us through media, especially online, throughout the day, and it may be important to consider not only the sources of our news but their integrity and our individual preparation as receivers of it.

Do we really believe our neighbors might turn into Nazis?

Do we really believe in “Globalists”?

Might we admit that for competitor “superpowers” and others, democracy proves unattractive and America is only a prize to be plundered (“by any means necessary”)?

Might we from time to time review what is in our hearts and lay that against not only what we read but HOW we read?

Do we read to feel good about ourselves and how we prefer to see the world?

Do we read for something called “truth”?

Had President Trump proven a better character throughout his life and proven a dispassionate fighter in defense of America and one more deeply engaged in issues than the promotion of his own image, I’d have chosen a different tack for this election eve. However, my own concern for the nation has to do with an apparent abandonment of “the aisle” and keen, knowledgeable, and moderate approach to domestic and foreign policy certain of America’s political ethics, ideals, instructions, tenets, and values.

Those who have normalized their own extremes would be wise to reconsider the validity of their fears and put in place a demand for ever clear, accurate, complete — plus valid and reliable — information about everything — and if certain of their own certainty (and belligerent about it) reconsider their own methods in research, reasoning, and rhetoric.

US Election Special 2020: What to watch and why it matters

Fascists viewed the purging of leftists from Spain as the political reaction that was required in order to re-establish the monarchy in place of the Second Republic. The Francoist Repression was motivated by the right-wing notion of a limpieza social, a cleansing of society. This meant the killing of people viewed as enemies of the state began immediately upon the Nationalists’ capture of a place.[7]:98 Ideologically, the Roman Catholic Church legitimized the killing by the Civil Guard (national police) and the Falange as the defense of Christendom.[7]:88–9[10]

A Note on the Political Destabilization of the West

American political coherence and cohesion, democracy, informed democracy, medieval v modern

From the Awesome Conversation

ISO Radical Moderates.

Cultural extremists and party zealots may be laying the groundwork for extraordinary blowback. However, that reflexive response would call for a renewal of enthusiasm for the most advanced standards of western culture and its modern (rather than medieval) devotions.

Has EU / NATO, much less the United States, the educated and enlightened empiricist and humanist populations for that?

We’re certainly living through the process of finding out.

States contributing to political incoherence associated with or within EU/NATO might include Hungary, Italy, Poland, Turkey, and the United States of America. Authoritarianism, extremism, feudalism (family as state mafia), and unreasoning religious faith have long had their posts in the medieval world. The learning modern west has battled even longer, however, to overcome its own worst tendencies to produce a world and associated politics steeped in compassion, empiricism, equality in justice, humanism, and mutual responsibility for improving (rather than degrading) Qualities of Living (QOLs) across Europe, throughout North America, down through Latin America and against the intellectually limited and nefarious dictatorships of the world.

How goes the battle for mankind’s more enlightened future?

Three generalist organizations provide clues: https://cpj.org/ | https://freedomhouse.org/ | https://www.occrp.org/en .

The blood-and-soil nationalism buoyed by revivals of church and military enthusiasm following 9/11 and numerous other Islamist attacks (perhaps associated with Moscow’s covert influence) has marched a portion of the 21st Century political establishment headlong into the political models of the 19th.

How else to interpret the big picture for the BREXIT or Trump narratives?

Add the Syrian Tragedy as challenge and goad to Western resolve.

Obama had offered Putin his “Come Westward” in 2011 (it’s now hard to find that moment online, but I recall the same as the “Syrian Gambit”), and Putin said “Nyet!” while Obama scoffed at the return to the “KGB Playbook”.

Well, here we are — and here is EU/NATO — talking up Western Values while nonetheless losing momentum and a handful of compromised or, as with Hungary and Turkey, philosophically and spiritually traitorous states.

While lumping America’s President Trump with others possessed of autocratic and martial patriotic fervor, I would note that his Administration’s actual policies and postures fall into line with greater American state tendencies in judgment and policies. For example, he has not been wrong about China (i.e., https://conflict-backchannels.com/2020/07/16/barr-chinas-abuses-of-power-and-privilege-against-client-states-and-the-west/). Moreover, the Trump Administration’s leveling of sanctions against Crimean officials (“so-called”) has been especially caustic as well as damaging.

One might suggest with relation to Donald Trump that he has been a worse candidate, one deeply inspiring his own opposition, than American President.

In any case, the United States is not Hungary, and while Viktor Orban has been able to degrade his state’s political character, I believe the present polarization and related turmoil in the United States will abate with a greater general want of return to “normalcy” — and normal in the United States involves much, much greater mutual concern and regard for one another and related practical political reason and compromise.

FTAC From On High: “Jews who vote Democratic . . . .”

I’ve tired quite of Punch the Democrat and Judy the Republican on Facebook. I’ve been at it long enough to abandon the aisle while the mud flies overhead.

This is a short personal take on the present state of affairs in the United State but inspired by a conversation hosted in Canada, I’ve add a small plea for remembering that our seeming adversaries online are also our neighbors, and we used to talk — or we used to be able to talk — with compassion, better than superficial knowledge, and reason with the intent of grappling with difficult cultural, environmental, political, and social issues. That near past seems to me much better than this descent into hurling frequently vicious memes and slogans in every direction.

From the Awesome Conversation

Jews who vote Democratic will do so because it has been Democrats who appear to most care about distressed ordinary Americans. The Dems have blundered terribly with COVID-19, but at least they are asking questions about our cultural and social pathologies and their victims. All that takes is a walk down an urban street.

The President’s leadership in vicious demonizations and of what appears to be a supine Republican Senate has, predictably, inspired some flight into the Biden camp.

The Dems, sadly, carry the burden of the Far Out Left and the Soviet Era Communist legacy in global perception, and that’s killing them here but for one thing: the better comportment of strident moderates like Biden and Schumer (I don’t really know the camp, but I’m tired of the Republican Senate, and that’s coming from an initially conservative position in all of this).

All of this has been complicated by the COVID-19 response (please note that my liberal state’s governor is a Republican, and we have been shut down as much as any) and the creation of conditions for the peonage (slavery by way of mounting personal debt) of millions of Americans of both parties. The political reaction on both sides of the aisle: throwing money (or borrowing and spending) into the air to encourage evidently set allegiances.

We should wake up in America and Canada to regard our conversational adversaries as Americans and Canadians rather than North American extremists who (somehow) aren’t like ourselves.

Are conditions — or police — that bad that the lanky Old Left must be compelled to promote the latest in anti-authoritarian lunacy, i.e., “Defund Police!”?

I don’t think so.

Christian conservative and thoughtful Americans have been jumping off the Republican bandwagon too.

Institutionalized and systematic racism, private or public, leaves lasting impressions in the cumulative online media memory of the world.

Mr. Smith, whose career as a master extremist began in 1934 and continued until his death, seemed mystified that because he was anti- black, anti-Semitic, anti-Catholic and pro-Fascist, he was shunned by many persons he would have liked to know.

“There is nothing worse, nothing more deadly,” he said in an interview a few years ago, “than never getting to talk to anyone but people who agree with you.”

Many things we have given up, but no one misses, say, animal sacrifice, and as many things we have kept, so we have still to welcome our Sabbath on Friday at sunset and to rest all of Saturday until three stars appear in the sky.

Most of all, through 5,773 years, wherever life has taken us, through the greatest triumphs and the most awful tragedies, we have preserved our tribal identity and soul, and so shall we continue eternally.

Anti-Semitism / Anti-Zionism = Signal of Fascism

I may suggest that anti-Zionism / anti-Semitism are signal (a little bit) of fascist urges, and the Left -- I'm an old liberal: I know my heart -- has been vulnerable to manipulation by what appears to me as a "Red Brown Green Alliance" driven by a handful of powerful autocrats intent on sustaining a medieval worldview in service to their own glorification. In the free world, talent -- editors, graphic artists, researchers, writers -- gravitate toward the organizations that suit their interests and values. The result: high integrity and highly reliable reportage and both responsible and thoughtful reasoning.

This is not to suggest that partisan presses don't exist or that propaganda doesn't exist in the west, but any reader possessed of critical thinking ability and genuine independence -- not bought, not programmed -- is certainly free to evaluate the works of earnest reporters and scholars.
